Meridian Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Meridian iOS application and the Meridian marketing website (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Baeram Alfreh (“Meridian”, “we”, “us”).

By downloading, accessing, or using Meridian, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Meridian. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly permit use by children under 13.

If you are using Meridian on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Meridian is a native iOS journaling application. Core features include:

• Creating journal entries (typed or via on-device handwriting OCR)
• Visualizing entries as stars in a personal Night Sky galaxy
• An optional Stardust economy and cosmetic customization
• Optional AI-powered features (reflection prompts, theme extraction, constellations)
• Optional Screen Time / app locking — shielding apps you select until you complete a reflection
• Optional Pro subscription features via the App Store

Meridian is currently distributed via TestFlight and may be in beta. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

Some features require creating an account (email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Google). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account.

You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You may delete your account through in-app settings or by contacting baeramaflreh@gmail.com.

Meridian offers an optional Pro subscription tier. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple’s terms and refund policies apply to billing, renewals, and cancellations.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings. We do not guarantee specific pricing, features, or availability of Pro benefits.

You retain ownership of journal entries and other content you create in Meridian (“Your Content”). By using the Service, you grant Meridian a limited license to process Your Content solely as needed to operate the Service — for example, storing entries locally on your device, performing on-device OCR, or sending text to AI providers when you enable AI features.

You are solely responsible for Your Content. You agree not to use Meridian to create, store, or share content that is illegal, harmful, harassing, infringing, or that violates others’ rights.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Meridian systems or other users’ accounts
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code except where permitted by law
• Circumvent usage limits, subscription checks, or security measures
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service without permission
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure

Meridian may be offered as beta or TestFlight software. Beta versions may be unstable, incomplete, or contain bugs. Features may change or be removed without notice. Your feedback helps us improve Meridian, but we are not obligated to implement any suggestion.

Meridian, including its name, logo, visual design, Night Sky visualization, and underlying software, is owned by Baeram Alfreh and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use Meridian branding except as necessary to use the Service.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Meridian is a personal reflection and journaling tool. It is not medical, mental health, or therapeutic advice. If you are in crisis, contact a qualified professional or emergency services in your area.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MERIDIAN AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50).

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Meridian and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe your use poses risk to Meridian or other users. You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in courts located in the United States, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
